7. Why are the cougars attracted to the main character?

CVMTB. CVMTB. Comox Valley MTB. May 12, 2010. Web. November 25, 2011.

I am reading The Gathering by Kelly Armstrong. It is the first in a new series of books. The main character in this story, Maya, has a way with animals. Animals she is around are healed unnaturally quickly, a marten that needed weeks to recover from a serious leg injury recovered in days. A cougar has ran into her multiple times, and she is known because she has encountered cougars the most. She lives in a park but it is still very unusual that she has these encounters. I personally think that she has some sort of supernatural connection between the animals, and she has a birthmark of a paw print on her so that could relate to her cougar attractiveness in some way. Also Kelly Armstrong has written another series about supernatural people and this book is linked to that series, so that leads me to believe that she may be supernatural also.

5. Classic and Popular! - Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

A "classic" novel is a novel which contains many important things that have meaning to multiple people leading to their success. For example, the bible is a classic, because it talks of historic events, and usually has a moral to the stories it tells. A classic is an amazing book which is hard to put down, has some significant meaning to it. It can be something of historic significance, or it can be a wonderful story with fascinating writing.
The book I am reading right now, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, is what I consider to be a classic because it has an amazing storyline which pulls you in and keeps you interested till the end. I feel this is the way that all the Harry Potter books are seen as they have the unique way of telling their story and is very humourous and entertaining. I believe that future generations should read this book (and the series!) because they are an amazing story which will truly impact your feelings and emotions. Another factor which decides whether a story is a classic is if it is relatable to yourself or your life. While some classics may not be relateable, it helps to make them more interesting to the reader.

6. The Sight - The Shadow, Morgra

" 'You are wrong. I love his hate,' growled Morgra, staring down at the living child and thinking of how delighted she would be to kill it when it was over. 'But enough. It is time. The Man Varg waits.' (David Clement-Davies The Sight 462)

I feel that Morgra is the Shadow in this story, I feel she fits this role as she kills and tortures many wolves, merely to control them all. And she believes what she is doing is right. She is out to stop the Hero, Larka, which is another characteristic of the Shadow. I believe that the quote fits this because it shows how she is hateful and she loves to kill innocents. Although, she was betrayed which lead her to become this way, which is not necessarily a characteristic of the Shadow. But overall I feel that she fits this role.
