8. Ordinary World

Free Mason Symbol,
Robert Langdon's ordinary world is not actually ordinary at all. His world is full of secrets and mysteries, although that is to be expected from his job. He works at the Smithsonian Institute, and teaches about societies with secrets (not secret societies), like the Free Masons. [insert awesome picture here]  (Nabokov. "Freemason." Wikipedia. Jan.-Feb. 2008. Web. 02 Dec. 2011) But it is what is real for him. Although soon, that is twisted and changed into a much worse situation.
Robert fears to leave his ordinary world, but has no choice considering the circumstances. He feels most comfortable doing what he does best, teach. But that is taken away and he is thrust into a journey of unpredictability and danger when his friend's life is in the hands of a mad man.
